Everything You Need to Know About Microphones for Wedding Vows

THE GOOD, THE BETTER, THE BEST

There are four types of microphones and we are here to help you break it down to The Good, The Better and The Best!

THE GOOD

A wired microphone on a stand

Pros: Economical and has awesome sound quality.

Cons: Visually it might detract from the design. Plus, the wires could get in the way of any on-stage movements.

THE BETTER

Wireless microphone on a stand

Pros: Awesome sound.

Cons: Could detract from the aesthetics.

 Wireless Lavaliers

Pros: They are totally invisible to guests and in the photos

Cons: There is a high risk of hearing the wind and clothing noise and other random feedback. Additionally, your sound techs might have to track down the groom or officiant to get them “mic’ed” up before they walk down the aisle.

THE BEST

Concert-quality Cardioid microphone AKA The “Skinny” Mic

You have seen these microphones at concerts and awards shows. They are classic and very good looking.

Pros: This single microphone pics up everyone under the altar. Yet, it rejects wind with a windscreen, and has a slim profile that doesn’t take away from the aesthetics. With the right engineer, you can even hear whispers!

Cons: Can be seen in pictures. If needed, the photographer can photoshop it out.
